Gorilla Century

Restaurants

RIDE INFORMATION
Official start time is 8 AM. Showers available 11 AM to 6 PM. Full service rest stops every 10-15 miles. Maps will be provided at registration. Helmet use is mandatory!!! Please bring at least one water bottle and flat repair gear.

There will be a cutoff point at the 65 mile mark. If you are not there by 1 PM you will be redirected on a short cut to eliminate 20 miles. If you choose to ignore the cutoff time you will not have Sag Support!

REGISTRATION
Register by mail before August 8th to reserve a T-Shirt and avoid the $5 late registration fee. Register or pickup your packet at Tailwind Cyclists 16th & Broadway in Pittsburg from 12 PM-4 PM Saturday, August 19th. Register Sunday August 20th from 6 AM - till we're done. Entry fee is $20 for 100 & 62 miler and $10 for the 35 miler. T-Shirts are $10, if you want one pre-register by mail. A very limited number will be available the day of the ride.

Ride description: A mostly flat course with a few small hills, which meanders through numerous small towns in Crawford & Cherokee counties, past historic landmarks like the Big Brutus coal shovel & the Crawford County museum.

Directions: Ride starts on the PSU campus. Registration is at the Gorilla Village on the east side of Carnie Smith Stadium. From Hwy 69 or Broadway St (Hwy 69B) head east on Quincy St. to Joplin St. Go south on Joplin St. to the first stop sign at Williams St. Turn east onto Williams and park behind the stadium. Registration is at the south end of the parking lot. Quincy St. is one mile south of Hwy 125 (4th St).

Drive time to Pittsburg (if you drive slow) from: KC-2hrs, Springfield-2hrs, Topeka-3.5hrs, Wichita-3hrs, Tulsa-3hrs, Fayetteville-2.5hrs.
