Brief synopsis of the 11/25/02 meeting:

Turnout was sparse, with only 5 people present. That note aside, we disucssed our aspirations to join the NCCA Division II Collegiate Cycling ranks. They say the devil is in the details, and after we get through this segway into the NCCCC (North Central), I think we'll all agree.

Orders for this year's t-shirt were taken, and the design for next spring's jersey was shown. Both look very sexy and we have lots of people already signed up. Get yours by calling 231-2212 or emailing us.

Basically, we need funding, and securing it means dedicated and disciplined pursuit! The SAC meeting for club fund distribution is in Feb of 2003. Assuming we'll be successful, a dire need for outside sponsorship also exists if our racers are to make the trip to all four division races next spring. Transportation, food and hotel costs to exotic locations like North Dakota, Nebraska, etc, will be budgeted, stripped down, and presented to the SAC, after which the gap needs to be filled by interested supportive parties. If only Chuck Broyles would take up an interest in cycling....

Heavy as this may sound, we are a core of confident and driven people, no strangers to a little hard work. Heck, we're machines! If we get this whole thing off the ground, no small accomplishment, then future generations of PSU cyclists can continue representing our school nationally. Maybe this is a tradition in its infancy!

Road racing for our division is in the spring, mountain bike racing in the fall, and cyclocross in the winter. If we don't meet again until spring, keep hammering on the bike, and get ready for race season if you're thinking about competing. Group rides meet once a month in winter, check the calendar for details. Happy Thanksgiving!
